Hares are characters of the Masha and the Bear series.
Description[]
In the forest there live many hares. Very often hares appear along with hedgehogs and squirrels. One of them is best known. Masha calls him Bunny (rus. Зайка).
Bunny[]
The Bunny is curious, but gutless and weak-willed — he often thoughtlessly follows the lead of Masha or obeys a brute force. In rare moments, he can show bravery, and sometimes he gets angry (if someone interferes with his affairs or rudely invades his personal space).
The Bunny is one of the few characters with a clear story line. In the episode 12. No Trespassing!, the Bunny along with the Bear planted carrots in the Bear's garden, but their goals were different. Bear wanted to get a record-sized crop, but Bunny just wanted to eat, so when the carrots grew a little, they quarreled, and then Bunny began to regularly visit the vegetable garden of the Bear and steal the carrots. A little later (in the ep. 17. Recipe For Disaster), not wanting to play with Masha in "hockey" (on the grass, but with the sticks and the puck), in punishment for another stealing carrots, Bear forced Bunny to play by putting him at the gate instead of himself; since then Masha and the Bunny often play together.
The Bunny lives inside a tree, where he has his own small room. There are a lot of books, a closet, a table, a couple of chairs and a few pictures depicting hares.
The Bunny likes to stack pyramids of carrots such as card houses. It's his hobby. Sometimes he grows his own carrots. As a child he was very energetic and disobedient, because of what he got in trouble, for which he was often punished by his mother.
Other hares[]
- Magic hares emerge from the magical cloak or the magical top hat from the magic chest. They are smaller and fluffier than the forest hares, which is why they look more cute.
- Bunny's mother appeared in the ep. 35. Kidding Around in his memories.
- A baby hare which exists only in the imagination of Masha appeared in the ep. 78. Who Am I?, when she imagined herself a schoolteacher.
- The White Rabbit helped the sheep return to her homeland in the ep. About England: From England with Love.
- The bunnies have been taken in by Masha in the ep. 90. Masha Knows Best when they got lost, they are very naughty. They also appeared in the ep. 106. All You Need is a Goal.
- The Female Hare is bunnies' mother. She wears around her neck a whistle.
Appearances[]
- 01. How They Met. A hare tried to escape from Masha but was caught. She stroked it until she saw an apple tree.
- 02. Don't Wake Till Spring!. Masha climbed into a hollow trunk of a fallen tree, where, as it turned out, a hare lives.
- 03. One, Two, Three! Light the Christmas Tree!. A hare was one of the receivers of the gifts from the Father Frost, it received a drum.
- 04. Tracks of Unknown Animals. Escaping from a wolf, a hare left in the snow a trail of paw prints, which then Masha studied. At the end of the episode, Masha has convicted a hare of forging of wolf tracks using stilts.
- 05. Prances with Wolves. The Bear pulled out a hare from his magical top hat in which Masha hid.
- 06. Jam Day. A few hares helped Masha to make "jam". They picked tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots.
- 07. Springtime for Bear. The couple of hares sat in a clearing.
- 08. Gone Fishing. A hare tried to run away from the approaching Masha.
- 09. Call Me Please!. A wolf chased a hare when Masha came across them. The hare attempted to stand up for the girl, but she chose to rely on a phone call to the Bear. When that did not work, the hare itself had to running to the Bear while the wolf chased Masha.
- 10. Holiday on Ice. One of the hares was escaping from a wolf and jumped onto the frozen river to which Masha soon went. Both the hare and the wolf had to leave the ice urgently. Later a few hares along with squirrels danced on the ice.
- 12. No Trespassing! This is the first episode in which the Bunny definitely appears. He and the Bear plant carrots together, but they have different goals and therefore quarrel, after which Bunny starts stealing the carrots. Despairing to independently protect crops, the Bear turns to Masha, however, seeing that her attempts to catch the thief, albeit successful, but leave behind mayhem, decides to make a security system by using the image of Masha, which scares the Bunny very much on the next try of stealing, forcing him to flee.
- 13. Hide and seek is not for the Weak. The Bunny came to steal carrots, but got caught by the Bear and burst into tears. Since the Bear played hide-and-seek with Masha at that moment, he gave Bunny a carrot, if only he quiet. Realizing that he can get more carrots in the same way, Bunny cried until got so many carrots that he ate too much and couldn't move.
